What is the difference between the Optimist Institute and the LMS?

The LMS was the previous name for this same system. However, once rebranded as the Optimist Institute, we have offered a much larger variety of trainings and personal & professional development courses that continues to grow and expand.

How much does it cost for a Club member registration?

The Optimist Institute is a Member Benefit for full dues paying Adult Club Members! As long as you fit that description, the Optimist Institute is free for you!

Can a Friend of Optimist register?

Absolutely! The annual subscription fee for a FOO is $25.

How do I register?

On the main login page, click on Subscriptions in the right hand corner. Make sure you click on the correct subscription.

Who is required to take courses?

Starting 10/1/2020 the new ICD-135 states that all Club Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, and CFRs need to take courses in order to qualify for awards. There are also required courses for Lt. Governors. There are suggested courses for District Governors, District Secretaries, and District Treasurers.

If I start a course and have to leave, can I come back to it?

Yes. If you log out in the middle of a course, when you log back in it will take you to where you left off.

What do I do if I completed a course, but it is not showing complete?

Most likely you missed a part of the course. Make sure to scroll down in each unit within courses to ensure you are fully completing each unit.

A video won't load, who do I contact?

Unfortunately, most of the time this is due to internet connection. But, if you get an error message stating the video is not available, email institute@optimist.org

Can I track the progress of everyone in my Club?

No. However, monthly reports for completion of required officer trainings will be sent to Governors by the 7th of each month, October through April.
